Catch-22
Tonight I watched Catch-22 for the first time in many years.
I’d forgotten how close the movie had come to the book. I enjoyed it so much I even re-watched some of the movie with the director’s commentary on to find out more about how they filmed it.
Earlier in the evening I took Lanie to Bass Pro where she became excessively enamoured with a very sparkly motor boat.

Ginger and Gary on the beach
UK June 2011 – Day 30. Out of focus?
We celebrated by catching a bus down to Gun Wharf and Ginger buying some more clothes. After that we went and found lunch and coffee at Lou-Lou’s and had a long wait for a bus to the beach. We spent a wonderful afternoon on the beach, and just so that I could say that I’d done it, I went swimming. Compared to the frigid waters of Scotland it was almost tropical.
In the evening we went for a farewell dinner with Robert and Mel. The taxi is coming to pick us up and take us to Heathrow at seven am tomorrow morning. The only thing left to do was pack. It wasn’t easy somehow our bags were overweight. I had to leave some of my carefully collected geological specimens behind, and we did a lot of re-arranging of our bags, including putting the entire tent (except the poles) into my carry on bag. Finally we squeezed everything in and the weights were within the limits.

Crossing Camp Creek
Today we hiked the white and orange trails at Busiek,
If was a bit cold at first, but the weather was glorious and now everything is starting to go green the colours were wonderful. The trail was very muddy in places, and I had great fun slopping through all the mud in my bare feet while Ginger struggled to keep her shoes dry. I took today’s picture while I was standing in Camp creek washing some of the mud off. We did the six odd miles of the two trails in plenty of time to pick up the big kids from school.
We had an early start at Church this evening. Ginger because she and Lanie are singing with some other mothers and daughters on Mother’s day, and myself for a meeting. Alek helped out in the kitchen. While the kids had youth group the parents spent their time chatting.
We finished the day with Gin and Tonics and the last of the Star Was prequels – Revenge of the Sith. Thank goodness, now we can watch the good movies in the series.
